Metal AM has not yet gained significant market share in high-volume manufacturing because of the current limitations to the speed of the process (specifically for LPBF).  This strongly affects the production price per part that can be achieved. The speed at which parts are built is limited to how fast material can be melted and solidified.

A new frontier technology known as Large Area PBF offers an interesting solution to the economics of Additive and high volume applications in Automotive and Consumer Electronics which have historically been vertical markets that haven't integrated AM into end use production.

This presentation will include the following:

  • How to achieve faster build rates by evolving from a serial printing process to a parallel process
  • Why increasing build speed with high resolution unlocks new applications for AM
  • New frontier applications
